This is the Christmas Edition and we are losing our minds with excitement... The snuggly yarn, the quirky festive workshops, the decorations, the delicious seasonal food, oh and not to mention the log burning stove!
Come and enjoy an entire weekend away from it all, surrounded by the most gorgeous yarns, the Yorkshire countryside and a marvelous group of like-minded people, all in the most stunning venue.
Just kick back, relax and sip on that prosecco and you crochet until your heart’s content. Ask any previous guest and they'll tell you that the retreat really is constant laughter, wonderful people, divine yarn that you can crochet dive into whenever you like, delicious home cooked food (no, you can't kidnap Chef Dan and take him home with you...sorry!), glorious countryside surroundings, beautiful accommodation (complete with a hot tub!), loads of booze (and fancy mocktails!), mega fun workshops, some of the biggest names in the industry popping by to teach special guest workshops and so so SO much more. It's rare that we have guests that don't rebook as soon as the weekend is over.
At the retreat we welcome an equal amount of people who come on their own, and people who bring a friend or relative along. People who come on their own are allocated one of our beautiful single person rooms and our sharers share a twin room at a discount. If you would like to bring a friend, but would prefer not to share a room, then you must each book separately as a single person.
For more details about our dreamy venue, you can visit the Venue page.
The retreat begins at 5pm on the Friday, but don't panic if you can't get to us for that time, we are very flexible and we will have a glass of bubbly waiting for you when you arrive! After we help you with your bags and show you to your bedroom, we will all spend some time chatting and laughing over a few bubbles and snacks while we wait for all the guests to arrive.
We will then all move through to the main living room where all the crochet magic happens! Once you have had a chance to ooh and ahh and squish all of the yarn and get comfy, we will make a start on our first workshop before breaking for dinner. Once we all have lovely full tummies thanks to Dan's delicious cooking, we will head back to the living room to continue with the workshop. Don't worry, the Friday evening workshop is always easy going and just a bit of fun - who wants an intense, technical workshop after travelling, a big evening meal and several wines?!
Take a look at the famously mouth-watering retreat food over on the Food page.
Saturday morning, a gorgeous home cooked breakfast is served from 9am, followed by our morning workshop as the Day Guests arrive at 10am. After lunch we will be joined by our VIP Guest Workshop Tutor and enjoy something a little different and mega fun for the afternoon. You can expect exciting workshops such as weaving, knitting, yarn dyeing, spinning, macramé, amigurumi, modern embroidery, tapestry crochet, corner to corner and so much more. If you have a particular idea for a workshop, then simply get in touch and we will work our magic to make it a reality.
To see some of our brilliant past workshops, simply visit the Gallery and Workshops pages.
The Day Guests' day comes to an end at 6pm and then dinner will be served at around 7:30pm. Saturday Evening is the perfect opportunity for diving into all the yarn in the living room for a play, getting on with existing projects that you may have brought with you, picking my brains for any tips, tricks or tutorials on techniques you'd like to learn or perfect and also for having a cheeky drink or two (it is Saturday night after all...).
Sunday morning breakfast will be served a little later, at 10:30am, because it's our epic farewell brunch. I'm salivating already! Check out is at 3pm, and just a warning, you might want to bring a tissue or two, even if it's just for us when we realise it's almost time for all our new pals to go :(
Please feel free to ask in advance if you'd like us to arrange a taxi for you.
Our beautiful venue really is the most stunning house and we are so happy to call it home. Complete with a gorgeous indoor pool and gym, sauna, steam room, restaurant/cafe, hot tub and log burning stove for those cosy evenings with your crochet, stunning surroundings of the Yorkshire countryside, it's all just a 7 minute taxi journey from Skipton Train Station – You may recognize it as the home of YarnDale!
If you would like to know any further info on the best ways to get to us, especially if you are travelling from overseas, then please just get in touch - we are very accessible from all major airports and have had many previous guests travel from abroad.
Absolutely everything you need is included and ready for you at the retreat. We have towels, bedding, all food and drink, all the materials for the workshops, yarn and crochet hooks (though I know a crochet obsessive never leaves home without their favourite hooks... us included!). The only things we would recommend bringing is a hairdryer and toiletries - oh, and don't forget some swimwear for the pool and hot tub!
